What we do
Sähëlï Hub is a friend dedicated to improving health and wellbeing in the community, by providing innovative services that educate, motivate, inspire and empower.
Sähëlï Hub works with communities across Birminghamto increase participation in sport and physical activity, improving physical and wellbeing.
Our main focus is to work with women, challenging the stereotypes around women’s participation in sport and other physical activity. The majority of our participants are women from global majority communities and most sessions are women-only. In recent years, prompted by our women participants, we have expanded our work to include men-only and mixed groups too.
Sähëlï means ‘girl friend’ in many south Asian languages. For women, their Sähëlï is their friend above all other friends.
The Sähëlï Way
At Sähëlï Hub, we do things differently. Our winning formula is always to deliver:
- In the right way
- At the right time
- With the right instructors
- In the right place
- In a fun way
- For the long term.
This is ‘The Sähëlï Way’.
With over two decades of experience and deep roots in our communities, we can successfully engage with people and communities that mainstream organisations struggle to serve. Behind the scenes, a lot of hard work goes into each and every activity, session and event we deliver – so that we can support people to improve their health, wellbeing and lifestyle over the long term.
