Sheila’s story

75 year old Sheila has been coming to the SähëlïHub arts and crafts sessions every Wednesday for several years.

Sheila went to see her GP about her ongoing health concerns and was referred to SähëlïHub after she mentioned her feelings of loneliness: “I was fed up living on my own.” Her GP recommended joining our SähëlïHub sessions so she could socialise and learn a new skill at the same time.

“One word I would use to describe SähëlïHub is ‘BRILLIANT’. They have nice people. I can’t do crochet. I learned with SähëlïHub, but I forget as soon as the instructor walks away. So, I do arts and crafts. I never used to do arts and crafts in my life but since I have been here I have started to make these creatures – giraffes, pandas, ladybirds, a fish mobile and now I am making a penguin family. I use all sorts of craft items such as cotton wool, toilet rolls, and glue. I have a hard time with faces, but I am working on it. I am also making a girl on a swing. SähëlïHub has brought me out of my shell. I used to be in my shell a lot. I like it [SähëlïHub], it’s brilliant.”
